Being in this class has made me realized that the music industry is not at all what I thought it was. I listen to a wide range of music from the genre of Banda to alternative rock. I realized that most of the music I listened to where made from men who are white or resembled a white complexion. The music industry is changing in the way that we are starting to see people of color rise to the top. However, it is far from being what it needs to be. What I found interesting from this weeks readings is how Rosetta Tharpe and Alice Bag both were put in the shadows because of the fact that they were women of color. They both had created something original but were robbed of it. All because what the industries think the public wants is to see white men prosper. This just infuriated me because if it was not for small documentation their names would have disappeared. In Rosetta Tharpe and Feminist Unforgiving by Gayle Wald it was clearly evident how Elvis Presley ways highly influenced by Rosetta. At the Tharpe concert in England a British Observer was writing how Tharpe "looked and sounded like a “blacked-up Elvis in drag”(3). This observer represents how the general public did not know that Rosetta Tharpe was the creator of this masterpiece and instead proceded to be rude and ignorant. Unfortunately, this is the reality for many artist even today they get their work stolen. Furthermore, when we think about punk we think of a white skinny artist as the representation of it, but we do not really know that the genre of punk was also influenced by artist like Alice Rag. In Death to Racism and Punk Revisionism by Michelle Habell-Pallán we see how Alice Rag got her inspiration from her roots her "dramatic facial and bodily gestures is also reminiscent of canción rancheras estilo bravio" (13). Also, Alice capitalized the punks lack of structure by using her influences unconsciously(14). Her influence on Hollywood punk went unknown just like Rosetta Tharpe's influence on Elvis went unknown.

This popular Regguetón was taken by an old spanish song and re-written as its own. The author of this song was not given credit.

This song by One Direction sounds an awful lot like "should I stay or should I go" by The Clash.
