During this weeks reading, we were assigned to read Gayle Wald's article, "Rosetta Tharpe and Feminist Un-Forgetting".  This article is the biography of Rosetta Tharpe, however it was written by someone else who goes by the name of Gayle Wald.  In this article Wald discovers the life of Rosetta Tharpe through the different sources and perspectives.  What stand out the most, is how the credit was being taken from her.  The hard work that was put into her music was not seen.  Instead it was taken by a white male.

The reason for most of these situations was simply because they are minorities.  Work was not seen or recognized by minorities.  What I also read about in this article is that when words are passed around it can easily be changed.  Especially when that word is by someone who is very powerful.  One quote that I had found in the article was in page 159.

"Biography can be critical and it can be feminist.  it can shed light on woman's lives while questioning the historical apparatuses that have excluded them."

This quote tells me the power of a biography.  It can help change so many lives, especially the lives in the past.  It has the power to bring someone forward, such as Rosetta Tharpe.  She was brought forward and recognized because of this biography.

These are songs are examples of how the original was taken by someone who was more recognized.  The original was not given credit.
