AFRAM 337 blog post #4

In one of the readings, "Country Music is also Mexican music," it states, "What Trump failed to note was that without Mexican culture, the beloved American genre might never have existed. We take for granted that country music sounds white, looks white, in many ways, is white (Hurtado 3)." This shows, that without having Mexican culture around, we wouldn't have these types of genre of music, specifically country.

In one of the other readings, "Anzaldua to live in the Borderlands," this poem mainly talks about having a mixed heritage and the obstacles that comes with being mixed. Also mentions in stanza 4 that to live in the borderlands, it's about the culture and tradition which is represented as food.
From stanza eight, she states, "to survive the borderlands, you must live sin fronteras, be a crossroads (Anzaldua)." Sin fronteras means "without borders" that you must "be a crossroads" in order for an individual (or yourself) to survive to be successful.

Two songs that I chose were Uno by Ambjaay and Go Loko by YG featuring Tyga. The reason I chose these two songs is that the mix of compiling hip hop/rap into some Hispanic beats that makes it so catchy and repetitive to the audience. More specifically ith "Go Loko" is that in L.A, there are a lot of Mexicans/Hispanics/Latinos around that for YG, he wanted to give something back for his community and was inspired by Mexico's cultural impact that it gives to the song.
