Its funny I argue with my niece who is older than me all the time about changing the station whenever she listens to country music. I guess I always had a rockism attitude towards this genre of music because growing-up in hip hop culture I always look at country music as the enemy in a sense. And justifiable because I have seen people of that culture shame Rap music claiming it isn't real music along with their fans. Now that I am much older I see the errors in my ways because It is simply a negative reaction and I think that could be more detrimental and divisive to a society. Now that I am more open to indluging into other genres of music thanks to my niece and her influence. That said reading this article I still see how this genre of music still is discriminatory towards other nationalities that was and still are pivotal to the influence of this music. The influence of mexican culture in country music still goes unacknowledge like the influence of black artist in the Rock & Roll genre. When I read this article it didn't occur to me the influnce of mexican culture but, when you think about it more it seems very obvious. Still I never seen any country artist pay homage to these Mexican artist. By using their status in the genre of Country music one could shine light on how important it is to pay homage to these pioneers. My favorite artist have always talk about their inspiration from the artist came before them.
