Blog #2

"The Stage Hip-Hop Feminism Built" defines hip hop feminism as "intellectual, and political movement grounded in the situated knowledge of women of color from the post-civil rights of hip-hop generation who recognize culture as a pivotal site for political intervention to challenge, resist and mobilize collectives to dismantle systems of exploitations." In most ways, hip-hop feminism is very comparable to traditional feminism, it is just a more focused branch, one that is intersectional and one that has allowed an avenue of expression in regards to women's rights for Black and Latinx women. In time, technology progresses along with everything else. I found it interesting that in the article it made a point to explain the progress that has taken place due to the incorporation of social media platforms-- "the blogosphere has become the digital public forum for feminist consciousness raising, and social media platforms like twitter, Tumblr, and Facebook have morphed into virtual command centers to mobilize coalitions for grassroots activism." In the article "The Rise of Seattle Hiphop", Kyle Fleck explains the history of hiphop in Seattle and how it slowly began to override the rock scene in the area. "Seattle's hiphop artists have taken to Bandcamp, SoundCloud, and other DIY methods of getting the word out, as astral interlocutors trade stages with lean-sipping burners and young, wide-eyed crossover potentials." It's evident that a change in technology helped to ignite a change in popular music, just like a change in technology further pushed for progress in regards to hiphop feminism.

Cardi B "Bodak Yellow". Women in hip hop are constantly coming out of the cuts with bangers. Progressive outlooks on women, placing herself in a position of power.

Post Malone "White Iverson" Soundcloud opened an avenue for regular people to start releasing music. White Iverson randomly blew up, giving birth to one of the best hip hop artists right now.
